I have worked in a variety of settings, primarily with adults, couples, and adolescents, and I have clinical and research interests in grief and loss as well as spiritual development. My clinical background includes, but is not limited to: grief and loss, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship concerns, bipolar disorder, learning disabilities, developmental issues, sexual identity and development, and trauma. I received my doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology in 1999 from the University of Denver and have been in private practice since 2001. Prior to this I worked in college counseling for a number of years. I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Washington State Psychological Association. I have training and experience in a variety of treatment methodologies. My treatment approach is systematically selective. I apply concepts from systems, feminist, developmental, psychodynamic, EMDR, and cognitive-behavioral theories in combinations best suited to each patient’s treatment goals.
I am certified to provide treatment using EMDR therapy. Click here to read more information about EMDR therapy.
I am also authorized through PSYPACT (mobility #11878) to conduct telehealth therapy for patients in member states. psypact.org
Most of the treatment I provide is relatively brief in duration, typically lasting from several weeks to several months for a particular episode of care. When appropriate, I treat some patients for multiple episodes of care over the long term.
